Funeral Services

By the mercy of Allah (S.W.T.), an excellent facility has been established at our Masjid to cater to the need of deceased members of the community. The services provided by Anjuman-E Anwarul-E Anwarul Islam of Malton (Malton Masjid) include:

·       Assistance in completing all necessary documents for release and burial of the body

·       Transportation of the body to the Masjid, as well as to the cemetery

·       Washing of the body

·       Shrouding of the body

·       Providing coffin and all necessarily required articles

·       Cold storage facility for delayed burial

·       Conduct the funeral prayer

·       Family counseling

Q: What do I do if any loved ones pass away?

A: Contact Funeral Services Helpline at (647) 719-7097. Provide your contact info, time of death and place of death.

Q: What are the working hours for the funeral services at Malton Masjid?

A: Here are the working hours:

9am – 9pm, Weekdays

10pm – 6pm, Weekends

Notes:

·       During Madresa hours, the deceased family may call for funeral services; however other funeral arrangements will be handled upon completion of the Madresa.

·       In addition, the body visitation in the cold room will be restricted from 3:30pm – 8: 15pm on weekdays.

·       Funeral services may also be offered during after-hours based on the discretion of the Funeral Coordinators.

Q: When will the Malton Masjid funeral services pick up the body?

A: Funeral coordinator will arrive as soon as the “Death Certificate – Form 16” has been issued by the authorities. Please ensure that the information of the deceased on the “Death Certificate” is accurate. If you notice anything that is incorrect, please request the authorities to correct it.

Q: Does the Malton Masjid process funeral for a deceased body that is to be transported long distances or overseas?

A: No, the Malton Masjid does not offer such a service.

Q: Who do I have to pay?

A: Payment for the grave, bathing, shroud, coffin, and transportation is to be made to Malton Masjid through cash or cheque. Payment for grave opening and closing services is to be paid to the respective cemetery.

Q: What do the Malton Masjid charges include?

A: Our funeral services include; documentation, transportation, washing, wooden casket, shroud, storage, funeral prayer, and burial service. The burial plot cost is extra. Funeral prayers requested to be conducted at another Masjid or Islamic Centre may be possible in the GTA area, however additional charges will apply.

Q: How long does the Malton Masjid store the body in its cold storage?

A: Body is stored at Malton Masjid for next day funeral only. For extended storage facility, contact the hospital or funeral home.

Q: What receipts or documents Malton Masjid provide for the payment?

A: Malton Masjid provides an invoice (not tax-deductible receipt) for the service and a burial plot and copies of Proof of Death Certificate. Proof of Death Certificate from Malton Masjid is not an official death certificate.
